My work as greenhouse & hydroponic technician focused on hydroponic and aeroponic propagation systems for efficient plant production under controlled greenhouse conditions. By optimizing nutrient delivery, irrigation management, and environmental parameters such as temperature and humidity, the goal was to improve root development, growth uniformity, and overall propagation success while promoting sustainable soilless cultivation practices.

The project was funded by the HYDRERO project under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program and supported by the University of Patras - Department of Agriculture . This project was conducted as a collaboration between the University of Patras and Rhodoland Nurseries.

Greenhouse & Hydroponic Systems Technician

Woody and semi-woody cuttings including olive (Olea europaea), rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus), and other Mediterranean aromatic species were propagated under controlled greenhouse conditions. Semi-hardwood cuttings were established in rockwool cubes for substrate-based rooting, while aeroponic propagation systems were used particularly for olive cuttings to enhance root initiation through fine mist nutrient delivery. Environmental parameters such as humidity, temperature, and irrigation frequency were carefully monitored to optimize rooting percentage, plant uniformity, and overall propagation efficiency. In addition, a floating hydroponic system was implemented for four different onion cultivars to evaluate morphological characteristics and yield production under soilless cultivation conditions.
